Drug & Alcohol Rehab Serving South Los Angeles

Day and evening outpatient care on Manchester Avenue, right in South LA — with medical detox and residential treatment at our Sun Valley campus when you need more support.

If you live in South Los Angeles — Leimert Park, Hyde Park, Vermont Square, Exposition Park, Watts or the blocks in between — you may assume good addiction treatment means a long trip out of the neighborhood. For outpatient care, it doesn’t. Reggie’s Treatment Center, our dedicated PHP and IOP facility, sits at 2107 W. Manchester Ave, inside South LA. That means therapy, groups and psychiatric follow-up can happen a short drive from home, on a schedule that leaves room for work and family.

Some people need more than outpatient to start. When withdrawal has to be medically managed, or when home isn’t a safe place to get sober yet, care begins at our hilltop campus in Sun Valley, where we provide medical detox and residential treatment. Many South LA clients do both: a stay in Sun Valley first, then a step down to Manchester Ave with the same clinical team. This page explains how that works, what the day and evening outpatient tracks look like, and how to get started.

Why does treatment close to South LA matter?

Recovery doesn’t end when a program does. The skills you learn in therapy have to work on your own streets, with your own family, your own job and the people you see every week. When outpatient care is a short drive from home, you practice those skills in real time: you go to group in the morning, face a hard moment in the afternoon, and bring it back to your therapist the next day.

Care close to home means recovery fits into the streets and routines you already know.

Distance still has its place. If use has become daily, or if the people around you are using, a few weeks away from the neighborhood can give your body and mind room to settle. That is why our model separates the two settings: a residential campus in Sun Valley that is far enough to break routines, and an outpatient center in South LA that is close enough to keep you connected to the people who matter. Families also find it easier to show up for family sessions when they don’t have to cross the whole county on a weeknight.

What is Reggie’s Treatment Center on Manchester Ave?

Reggie’s Treatment Center is the outpatient division of Reggie’s Recovery Center. It is where our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meet, and it is staffed by the same clinical team that works with clients in residential care. Inside you’ll find a reception lobby, group therapy rooms, private counseling and clinician offices, a client lounge, a recreation room and a music therapy studio. It is designed to feel calm and welcoming rather than clinical, and a 24/7 crisis line supports clients between sessions.

The day track: Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

PHP is the most structured outpatient option. Clients typically attend 5–6 days a week for about 5–6 hours a day, usually for 4–6 weeks. It suits people stepping down from detox or residential care, or anyone who needs daily clinical contact but can sleep safely at home or in sober living. A day might include a process group, a skills group built on CBT or DBT, a break in the client lounge, an individual or psychiatric session, and an experiential group such as art or music therapy.

Morning and evening tracks: Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

IOP meets 3–5 days a week in 3-hour sessions, with morning or evening tracks, and typically lasts 8–12 weeks. The evening track is often the right fit if you work days, care for children or are going back to school. You keep your routine, then spend three focused hours on relapse prevention, emotional regulation and the practical problems of the week.

When outpatient isn’t enough to start

Outpatient is not a substitute for medical detox. If you drink heavily every day, take benzodiazepines regularly or have gone through hard withdrawal before, the safest first step is supervised detox in Sun Valley. Your admissions call will help sort out which setting fits, and many people move to Manchester Ave within weeks.

Los Angeles County Public Health has reported that fentanyl now plays a part in most overdose deaths across the county, and that stimulants such as methamphetamine are frequently involved as well, often alongside other drugs. Those trends reach every part of the county, including South LA. Counterfeit pills that look like prescription medication are a particular concern because a person may not know fentanyl is in them.

For families, the practical message is simple: don’t wait for things to hit bottom. Keep naloxone (Narcan) at home if anyone uses opioids or pills from an unknown source, learn the signs of an overdose, and call 911 if someone won’t wake up or isn’t breathing normally. You can follow county and state data on the LA County Substance Abuse Prevention and Control site and the California Overdose Surveillance Dashboard.

Which levels of care can South LA residents get?

Every stage of care is part of one family of programs, so you don’t start over with a new team each time you step down:

  • Medical detox (Sun Valley) — typically 5–10 days with 24/7 nursing and an on-call physician, for alcohol, fentanyl and other opioids, benzodiazepines, stimulants and more.
  • Residential treatment (Sun Valley) — typically 30–90 days of live-in therapy, with extensions based on clinical need.
  • PHP and IOP (Manchester Ave, South LA) — day and evening tracks while you live at home or in sober living.
  • Sober living — structured, substance-free homes for 30 days to 12 months or more.
  • Medication-assisted treatment — buprenorphine (Suboxone) or naltrexone when clinically appropriate.
  • Dual-diagnosis care — depression, anxiety, trauma and other conditions treated alongside substance use, with on-staff psychiatric care.

If cocaine or meth is the main concern, our pages on cocaine and methamphetamine explain what treatment involves.

When you need detox: getting from South LA to Sun Valley

Our detox and residential campus is at 9250 Del Arroyo Dr in Sun Valley, in the northeast San Fernando Valley. From most of South LA it’s roughly 35–50 minutes without heavy traffic. The two common routes are I-110 north through Downtown and onto I-5 north, or I-405 north over the Sepulveda Pass, then US-101 east to SR-170 north. Rush hour can stretch the trip well beyond that range, so plan for midday or evening arrivals when you can.

You don’t have to work out the logistics alone. Our admissions team coordinates transportation when it’s needed, and family members are welcome to drive a loved one up for admission. During residential care, visits follow a structured schedule and family therapy can be arranged, so a parent or partner in South LA can stay involved. When it’s time to step down, the drive reverses: you return to the neighborhood for PHP or IOP on Manchester Ave.
