Opioid Treatment Questions
Opioid withdrawal is rarely fatal but causes intense physical distress. The bigger danger is relapse after detox — when tolerance has dropped, old doses can cause fatal overdose.
We use a combination of buprenorphine (Suboxone), clonidine, anti-nausea medications, and other comfort measures tailored to your situation.
Short-acting opioids: withdrawal begins within 6–12 hours, peaks at 36–72 hours, resolves in 5–7 days. Long-acting opioids (methadone) may take 2+ weeks.
Not necessarily. Some clients use it short-term for detox, others long-term for maintenance. This is a medical decision made collaboratively based on your history and preferences.
